Center Theatre Group's extended run of 'Spamilton' at the Kirk Douglas Theatre plays now through January 7, 2018. Created, directed and written by Gerard Alessandrini, the West Coast premiere of 'Spamilton' began previews on November 5, 2017, and opened last night, November 12. The Ford's 2017 season lineup celebrates diverse cultures through theatre and performing arts. Highlights include Yitzhak Rabin: Chronicle of an Assassination, presented with the Skirball Cultural Center, in association with The Lincoln Center Festival; and The Hubble Cantata - in association with the LA Opera - an hour-long, space-inspired cantata featuring music by composer Paola Prestini, libretto by Royce Vavrek and a cutting-edge virtual reality film, Fistful of Stars, by Eliza McNitt.
BWW Review: Village Has Your DREAMGIRLS, Boys. And They'll Make You Happy!
Back in the day when I was a mere fledgling musical theater geek I was introduced to the show 'Dreamgirls'. You might say this was my gateway cast album that put me on the path toward the musical addict I am today as I practically wore out the CD. So you'll understand if I'm a little picky about this show. I mean, how could someone live up to the magic of Jennifer Holliday, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Loretta Devine? Since then I've seen a few productions that have all been OK but never got me there until now. And true, you can't ever really compare with the originals but the current production from Village Theatre does a mighty fine job.

On Sunday July 16th, at 7pm and 9:30pm, Feinstein's/54 Below will be presenting Charles Strouse, Lee Adams, and William F Brown's A BROADWAY MUSICAL, which closed on its opening night in 1978. Disappearing after one performance, and leaving no cast album behind, the score of A BROADWAY MUSICAL has long been a mystery among musical theatre fans.
