Chicago-based dance artist Erin Kilmurray has announced a month-long engagement for her femme-powered dance work, the Function. Staged in a runway environment in the Land and Sea Dept. warehouse, the Function gives audiences front row access to this playground of choreography and objects created by dancers, DJs, and designers.
Illinois Arts Council Announces 2023 Artist Fellowship Award Recipients
The Illinois Arts Council Agency (IACA) has announced the 2023 Artist Fellowship Award (AFA) recipients. The IACA AFAs are $15,000 unrestricted awards granted to Illinois artists in recognition of their outstanding work and commitment within the arts. This year 24 Illinois artists will receive Fellowships totaling $360,000.

Court Theatre Extends OTHELLO Due To Popular Demand

Chicago Dancemakers Forum partners with The Nature Conservancy to present a series of original dance performances centered on stewardship and ecological exploration called Natural Encounters. Past Chicago Dancemakers Forum awardees Nejla Yatkin, Ayako Kato, Nico Rubio, and Erin Kilmurray will present immersive dance works at Indian Ridge Marsh, Hegewisch Marsh, and Big Marsh on the city's southeast side on Sept. 7 at 10:00 a.m., Sept. 21 at 4:00 p.m. and Oct. 5 at 4:00 p.m. These events are presented as part of the Chicago Park District's Night Out in the Parks program. All three events are free and open to the public.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater announces the cast and creative team for Short Shakespeare! Macbeth, a 75-minute abridged production of William Shakespeare's tale of political intrigue and personal ambition. Adapted and directed by Marti Lyons and featuring a dynamic ensemble cast, the production will be performed for the public on Saturdays at 11:00 a.m., February 16-March 16, 2019. After each performance, the actors remain on stage for a question-and-answer session, before joining the audience in the Lobby for one-on-one conversations and photo opportunities.

Chicago Dancemakers Forum celebrates its 15th Anniversary year with Elevate Chicago Dance 2018, a full-day of performances, installations, workshops and discussions by 45 Chicago dancemakers on Sunday, October 21 at the Chicago Cultural Center, in partnership with the City of Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE).
