BWW Flashback: From the A.R.T. to Broadway- The Shows of Diane Paulus
Later today, Broadway welcomes a brand new musical, JAGGED LITTLE PILL- an exhilarating new musical inspired by the themes and raw emotions laid bare in Alanis Morissette's seminal album of the same name. The show marks the return of Tony Award-winning director Diane Paulus, who brings it straight from its record-breaking, sold-out world premiere at American Repertory Theater last summer, where she has served as Artistic Director since 2008. Since then, five of Paulus' show have transferred to Broadway. Today, we're looking back at the other four!
CSArts-SGV presents First All-School Musical, PIPPIN at Arcadia Performing Arts Center
California School of the Arts San Gabriel Valley (CSArts-SGV) continues its inaugural year with a charismatic, all-school performance of the esteemed musical Pippin. Filled with dance, humor and soaring songs by Stephen Schwartz ( Corner of the Sky, Magic to Do and Glory ), Pippin tells the story of a young person's journey to find his place in the world. The ensemble cast offers growth and performance opportunities for the school's many talented young actors, dancers, musicians and singers across the school's conservatories. This original production is set with a unique and imaginative steampunk aesthetic, offering a relevant edge and visceral quality that will leave the audience questioning what it truly means to be extraordinary. Pippin runs Jan. 11-13, 2018, at the 1,163-seat Arcadia Performing Arts Center.

Sleigh My Name is a new holiday special that the Skivvies put together. This performance came to Joe's Pub December 10th and 11th and featured Jay Armstrong Johnson, Matt Doyle, Nick Adams, Lindsay Nicole Chambers, Michael Cerveris, Kimberly Kaye, Erik Altemus, Peter Saide, Russell Mernaugh, Emma Degerstedt, Diana Huey and Lulu Fall.

Maestro LUKE FRAZIER and THE AMERICAN POPS ORCHESTRA - Washington, DC's innovative hometown orchestra - hosted the closing concert of their successful inaugural season. Make Someone Happy: A 60s Cocktail Party at the George Washington University's Lisner Auditorium on Friday, May 6th. Special guests included theater and screen stars Erik Altemus (Pippin on Broadway), Nova Y. Payton (Helen Hayes Award winner for Hairspray), Nicholas Rodriquez ('One Life to Live' on ABC-TV, Helen Hayes Award winner) and Hayley Travers (Children of Eden at the Kennedy Center), in addition to dancers, choreography and full costumes.
