BWW Review: THE THANKSGIVING PLAY at Urbanite Theatre
Urbanite Theatre opened its season with a seasonally correct, satirical comedy titled, The Thanksgiving Play. It was written by Larissa FastHorse who is a Native American playwright from the Sicangu Lakota Nation. Her work includes numerous contributions to Native American drama and plays involving indigenous people.

Fox Valley Rep to Present CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN, 3/27-5/18
Fox Valley Repertory continues their 2014 theater series with one of the best-loved American memoirs recounted from the book by siblings Frank Gilbreth and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey called Cheaper by the Dozen. This coming-of-age comedy, adapted by Christopher Sergel, will include nearly a dozen professional actors as well as another dozen youth actors making their professional debut. Directed by Vance Smith, performances will take place at the Pheasant Run Resort Mainstage March 27 - May 18, 2014 (4051 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL; box office 630-584-6342).
The Renaissance Society Kicks Off International New Music Series Tonight
The Renaissance Society presents an international new music concert series in conjunction with its group exhibition Suicide Narcissus, now through Dec. 15, 2013, featuring a lineup of musicians who will expose Chicagoans to dynamic compositions, instruments and techniques at the leading edge of new music rarely showcased in the city.

?Four concerts from October to November will showcase the work of artists hailing from the United States, Germany and Japan, including: improvisational German trumpeter Birgit Ulher with Eric Leonardson (Oct. 8 at 8 p.m.); electro-acoustic chamber music outfit Gene Coleman and Ensemble N_JP (Oct. 23 at 8 p.m.); Chicago-based flutist Lisa Goethe-McGinn (Nov. 10 at 2 p.m.); and Japenese shamisen performers Yoko Reikano Kimura and Yumiko Tanaka (Nov. 13 at 8 p.m.). The musicians' work oscillates between the traditional and the contemporary, probing noise and silence equally, shifting between reactive improvisation and studied composition.
Chicago Shakespeare in the Parks Set for 7/29-8/19
Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST), Chicago Park District and The Boeing Company announced today plans to bring Shakespeare, FREE FOR ALL, to community parks across the City of Chicago this summer. From Portage Park to Humboldt Park and Austin to South Shore, this summer from July 29 to August 19, Chicago Shakespeare in the Parks will break down barriers to arts participation and give Chicagoans direct access to their City's cultural resources by bringing free Shakespeare performances into their neighborhoods.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announced today a special performance of Short Shakespeare! The Taming of the Shrew at Benito Juarez Community Academy Performing Arts Center in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood on Saturday, March 24 at 7 p.m. The 75-minute abridged production of Shakespeare's battle of the sexes-presented in English with projected Spanish translation and featuring a prologue by leading members of the Pilsen community-is part of CST's ongoing partnership with Benito Juarez Community Academy (BJCA).
