Half Moon Theatre Announces YOURS, ANNE: A Retelling of the Anne Frank Story

When she was 13 years old, Anne Frank, like many young girls, received a diary for her birthday. More than 70 years later, the diary she kept is read in classrooms around the world, produced as movies, plays and musicals. This spring, Half Moon Theatre proudly presents a play based on Anne's diary called Yours, Anne. The play has a limited run of two weekends at The Culinary Institute of America's Marriott Pavilion.

The Eventide Theatre Company has made a bold choice in sharing Frank's story with a Cape Cod audience through means of a score depicting her feelings while fearfully secluded in the "Secret Annex," with certain lyrics molded from actual quotes made by the young prisoner. It is safe to say that Eventide has done a spectacular job bringing both the joy and pain of Frank's life to living color for those who would not otherwise have understood the trials she and her family faced in such a gruesome time in history.

Theater for the New City, Crystal Field, Executive Director, and The After Dinner Opera Company present two new American operatic musical adaptations from classical works, Seymour Barab's operatic parody Out the Window based upon Georges Feydeux's farce 'Par La Fenetre;' and Rappaccini's Daughter, based on Nathaniel Hawthorne's gothic short story, with libretto by Linsey Abrams and music by Michael Cohen. Lissa Moira directs. Performances will be staged at the Cino Theatre at Theater for the New City, 155 First Avenue (bet. 9th and 10th Streets), New York, NY 10003 from tonight, September 11-28, 2014.

Webster University's Conservatory of Theatre Arts presents 'Yours, Anne' by Enid Futterman and Michael Cohen and based on "Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl" by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. The production runs from Nov. 28-Dec. 2 and Dec. 5-9 in Stage III, Webster Hall, 470 E. Lockwood Ave. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. only on Sundays. Admission is $12 for the general public and $6 for senior adults and students. For ticket reservations, call the Fine Arts Hotline at 968-7128.

For the second year in a row, Andrea will offer a special holiday performance on Monday, December 26 at 7:30 PM.
