Emma Van Lare is a first-generation Ghanaian-American actor and writer. Just before the start of her final year of drama school, she made her professional stage debut at California Shakespeare Theater (Cal Shakes) as the lead in the 2019 world premiere of Madhuri Shekar’s House of Joy. Currently, she can be seen in the historical fiction short film The Example, now streaming on Amazon, and on YouTube in the fantasy mystery drama web series Fabletown.
She was a finalist in the 2021 MACRO x The Black List Feature Screenwriter Incubator and is an inaugural fellow for the 2021 Free the Arts Shay Fellowship for which she will debut her original solo work, Hello, I Wish I Were Dead, in November 2022.
Emma holds a B.S. in Radio-Television-Film from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.F.A. in Acting from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. She is repped by SMS Talent.
