Photo Flash: The Actors Theatre Presents AS YOU LIKE IT
As Amiens says in As You Like It, relationships are fraught with deceptions and false identities. William Shakespeare's bright and brilliant comedy is light and joyful, yet beneath that surface is a wealth of wisdom about what it means to be human, to turn life's catastrophes of chance into triumphs.
Photo Coverage: First Look at Actor's Theatre of Columbus' FRANKENSTEIN
Appearing on the English stage only five years after Mary Shelley's groundbreaking novel Frankenstein; or the Modern Prometheus, Richard Brinsley Peake's Frankenstein, or the Dangers of Presumption is the first adaptation of that venerable novel. Peake's monster is an early version of the horror that would star in more than 50 films in the last 100 years. Performed in the style of classic melodrama, including song, lovers, and spectacle, Peake's stage adaptation was the only version Shelley attended, an event which she recounted in a letter to her father, stating, "I was much amused!" Frankenstein was such a hit in the theaters that the publisher of Shelley's novel produced a second edition, and the place of that novel in the English canon was secured. Several stage imitators followed in the decade after Peake's 1823 play, but this play endures as the original stage version of Frankenstein.
Performances are June 21 - July 15, 2018. Thursdays through Sundays @ 8pm. Schiller Park (German Village), Amphitheatre Stage, Columbus, Ohio. For information on donations and seat reservations, visit http://theactorstheatre.org

BWW Blog: Columbus Children's Theatre Attends the 2016 Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta
Weeks of rehearsals, discussion, sharing of pictures, videos, and personal testimonies have all occurred while Columbus Children's Theatre (CCT) has been preparing for its third annual trip to the Junior Theater Festival (JTF) in Atlanta, Georgia. However, these efforts simply do not suffice to describe the energy of this event. I am reminded just how magical and transformative theatre is as I look at the faces of the 28 CCT students here at JTF - most which are attending for their first time. As I see the reactions from these kids walking through the doors for the first time, I cannot help but think how amazing the experience is for all of us, and how proud I am of the students who have crossed this threshold before and are willing and eager to provide guidance to their peers.
