Jimmy Awards® alumni from the previous 10 years reunited for the first ever Jimmy Awards Reunion event yesterday, January 14. Former Jimmy Awards nominees, representing every year of the program, reunited for the celebration which included special duet performances from alumni currently on Broadway and in Touring Broadway shows. Joining the festivities was special guest Patti Murin, currently starring in Broadway's Frozen.

Chicago's Sarah Siddons Society recently announced winners of their prestigious annual Actor of the Year Award to be presented on May 16, 2016 at Northwestern University's Pick Staiger Concert Hall. One of Broadway's most popular performers, Brian D'Arcy James, was the recipient. The event was co-sponsored by Northwestern's School of Communication, Barbara O'Keefe, Dean.

On June 25, the stars of the upcoming revival of Jekyll & Hyde, Tony Award nominee Constantine Maroulis (Rock of Ages) and Grammy Award Nominee Deborah Cox (Aida), hosted the 4th annual National High School Musical Theater Awards at Broadway's Minskoff Theatre. The show featured 60 of America's most talented young musical theater performers vying for the "Jimmy Award" for Best Performance by an Actress and Best Performance by an Actor. This year, Elizabeth Romero, Joshua Grosso were crowned the night's big winners. Each received $10,000 scholarship awards for their efforts. Runners up, who each recieved $2,500 in scholarships, were Evan Greenberg, Drew Shafranek, Nicolette Burton, and Erica Durham.

APA earned 10 awards and 12 additional nominations. This is for the California Region which includes Orange County, Los Angeles and the Inland Empire.

Huntington Beach APA's Elizabeth Romero, DAMN YANKEES Honored Last Weekend

Huntington Beach High School and Academy for the Performing Arts senior Elizabeth Romero won the Spotlight competition for non-classical voice after performing at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Saturday night in their annual event, hosted by Broadway star Ben Vereen. Selected as one of eight award winners out of 2300 students from 400 schools, Elizabeth will receive a $5,000 cash scholarship. In other news, HB APA's production of Damn Yankees soared in performance at the John Raitt Awards in Fullerton on Sunday.
