BWW Review: THE MADWOMAN OF CHAILLOT at the Stratford Festival is Unsettlingly Exhilarating
The very last production to ever open at the current incarnation of the Stratford Festival's Tom Patterson Theatre was David Edney's translation of Jean Giraudoux's THE MADWOMAN OF CHAILLOT. Directed by Donna Feore, this was the world premiere of this translation. It boasts an excellent company and it explores themes and issues that are certainly relevant today.
GUYS & DOLLS JR. Opens this Weekend at Columbia Children's Theatre
Often called the "greatest American musical," Frank Loesser and Abe Burrows' Guys and Dolls is undoubtedly a classic. Columbia Children's Theatre will present this YouTheatre production Nov. 14-16 with shows Friday at 7:00 pm, Saturday at 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm and Sunday at 3:00 pm. General admission tickets are $10 regular admission and $8 for active military and seniors with proper ID. Lend Me A Tenor is a door-slamming, dress-dropping farce with mistaken identities, mischievous misunderstandings, compromising positions and hilarious situations. It is set in 1934 at the Cleveland Opera Company, where everyone is going wild over the impending visit of world-famous tenor Tito Merelli. But the tenor takes too many tranquilizers, leaving the promoter and his assistant to assess that Merelli is dead. The assistant decides to impersonate Merelli, but the star awakens and stumbles out of his hotel room, leaving too many tenors afoot.
