PIE SHOP PLAY opened with a splash on at the Paradise Factory on East 4th Street on Friday July 20th. The new play written by Alice Pencavel and directed by Sivan Battat is a maximalist theatrical event to tell the story of two sisters, Agnes and Kitty, who find their big dreams derailed when a disaster strikes their pie shop. Part of the second annual Corkscrew Festival of new work.
Corkscrew Theater Festival Presents Alice Pencavel's PIE SHOP PLAY
Corkscrew Theater Festival presents Pie Shop Play, written by Alice Pencavel and directed by Sivan Battat. Running July 20-29, Pie Shop Play concerns two sisters whose big dreams are derailed when the pipes in their pie shop burst, leaking toxic unknowns that rob them of coherent speech. As the shop slowly floods, buried trauma, and secrets pour forth as well, forcing the sisters to work it out (through garbled English) before they drown. Performed by Devin Kessler, Futaba Shioda*, Kaylee Simonson, Eliza Simpson*, and Madame Vivien V, Pie Shop Play is the third production in the second annual season of Corkscrew Theater Festival, a new summer theater festival that provides early-career artists with a high level of production support.
Judith Light Officially Opens The Drama League's DIRECTORFEST Tomorrow

This past Sunday, December 11th, Tony Roberts, legendary actor from Annie Hall, starred as Scrooge, in a performance of A Christmas Carol, to benefit The Nyack Center. The rest of the cast of neighbors performing for neighbors included: Teddy Bass, Tiffany Card, Noah Morley, Tom Dudzick, Kevin Pariseau, Sean Fleming, Max Reinhardsen, Andrew Greenway, Elizabeth Scotson, Jan Hilliard, Eliza Simpson, Peter Kramer, Steve Taylor, Lorena Mann, Jen White and was narrated by Barry Carl. Live music, and underscoring, was provided by Martha Mooke (viola) and John Forster (keyboards) Garth Kravits provided live Foley sound effects and Elliott Forrest (WNYC) directed the performance. A Christmas Carol, an audio play, is written by Arthur Yorinks, inspired by the Charles Dickens classic and was performed for the 21st Annual Music and Readings in a Holiday Spirit.
Cast Announced for THE MOTHER LINE STORY Project at Abingdon
Following sold-out performances at The PIT and Dixon Place, THE MOTHER LINE STORY PROJECT is coming to the Abingdon Theatre Company's Dorothy Strelsin Theatre (312 West 36th Street) for a one-night-only engagement on Friday, December 2 at 7pm. Created and performed by members of The Mother Line Story Project, this evening of unique stories celebrating women is based on an original concept by Eliza Simpson (co-star of Off-Broadway's The Woodsman). Kel Haney is set to direct.
A.R.T./New York Sets 2017 Season at New Performance Spaces
