Elisa Matthews is a singer, actor and voice teacher based in Philadelphia. A three-time Barrymore Award Nominee, Elisa recently played the role of Lily in Arden Theatre's critically acclaimed production of "The Secret Garden". Prior to that, she starred in "The Sound of Music" and played Mrs Molloy in "Hello Dolly!" with Media Theatre. This fall she will return to Media to play Francesca in "The Bridges of Madison County".
Elisa's other regional credits include Eliza Doolittle in "My Fair Lady", Guenevere in "Camelot", Meg in "Little Women", Betty in "Sunset Boulevard" (Philadelphia Theatre Critic's and Broadwayworld award nominee), Grace in "Annie" (featuring Wanda Sykes), Sharon in "Masterclass" (featuring Tony nominee Ann Crumb), Johanna in "Sweeney Todd" with Arden Theatre, and Belle in "A Christmas Carol". She has appeared on numerous Philadelphia stages including Arden Theatre, People’s Light, Prince Music Theater, Bristol Riverside Theatre and 11th Hour Theatre.
Elisa is also an active opera and concert soloist. Her opera roles include Susanna in "The Marriage of Figaro", Zerlina in "Don Giovanni", Papagena in "The Magic Flute", Valencienne in "The Merry Widow", Nella in "Gianni Schicchi", and Beth in "Little Women". On the concert stage, Elisa has made frequent appearances with The Philly Pops, The Ocean City Pops and Bristol Riverside Theatre's Music Fests as well as solo work with many symphonies and orchestras.
Elisa is a proud member of The Actors Equity Association and is a graduate of Penn State University.
