Elie Hirschfeld Acquires Christo's 'The Gates'
Elie Hirschfeld has acquired the unique original artwork, 'Christo (b. 1935) - The Gates (Project for Central Park, New York City),' depicting the historic life-size installation in Central Park in 2005, at a recent auction at Christie's Contemporary Art sale. The purchase was part of a $495 million session at the auction house.
Elie Hirschfeld and More Support New Drama League Theater Center
Elie Hirschfeld, and his wife Sarah Schlesinger Hirschfeld, are two of the founding donors for the new Drama League Theater Center, a new, state-of-the-art facility that will bring world-class theater artists, emerging talents, and New York theatergoers together under one roof. The Center is located on the lobby level of the historic former AT&T Building at 32 Avenue of the Americas, in the heart of TriBeCa's arts district.

The 2013 Theatre Museum Awards for Excellence were held Monday night, June 3rd, at The Players Club. Honorees at the evening's ceremony included the Distinguished Service to the Theatre Award given, posthumously, to Helen Guditis and The Theatre Arts Education Award presented to Emerson College. The evening also included a special tribute to the Palace Theater in honor of its 100th anniversary. The Palace Tribute was a trip back in time to the vaudeville era. OLEANNA Ends Broadway Engagement on January 3
Producer Jeffrey Finn announced today that the first-ever Broadway production of OLEANNA, the provocative drama by Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet, would end its Broadway engagement on Sunday, January 3, 2010. Starring Bill Pullman (in his Broadway return) and Julia Stiles (in her Broadway debut) and directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes (Doubt), OLEANNA is a gripping account of a power struggle between a male university professor and one of his female students. Following an engagement last summer at The Mark Taper Forum, the Broadway run began previews on September 29 and opened on October 11 at The Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street). As of the January date, the cumulative 14-week engagement will have played 15 previews and 97 performances.
