LaDarrion Williams' New Play UMOJA To Receive West Coast Premiere Production
The Willie Agee Playhouse in association with The Black Creators Collective presents the West Coast Premiere of 'UMOJA', a culture-shifting play, written by emerging playwright LaDarrion Williams under the direction of Shelli Boone. The show runs from Friday, January 21st to Sunday, February 27th, 2022. Showtimes are Fridays at 8 pm, Saturdays and Sundays at 7 pm PST.
Cast & Creatives Set for WHY DREAM IN INGLEWOOD? Project
An artistic director, experienced actors, enthusiastic neophytes and even a violinist...these are the diverse players assembled for Why Dream in Inglewood?, a City of Inglewood Inglewood Growing Artists Performed Projects (IGAPP) initiative awarded to playwright Henry Ong. The IGAPP exposes Inglewood audiences to the practices of contemporary artists and supports the work and growth of artists. Ong's six-hour adaptation of the Chinese classic, 'Dream of the Red Chamber,' debuts Acts I & II on Saturday, April 22 at 10:30 am at the Edward Vincent Jr Park Amphitheater, 714 Warren Lane in Inglewood. Performances are free.
Watts Village Theatre Artistic Director Bruce Lemon, Jr. Joins WHY DREAM IN INGLEWOOD? Theatre Project
Bruce Lemon, Jr. Artistic Director of Watts Village Theater Company (WVTC), joins the Why Dream in Inglewood? project, taking on the pivotal role of Chia Yu-tsun and others in Henry Ong's epic six-hour stage adaptation of the Chinese beloved classic, 'Dream of the Red Chamber.' The play will be performed at the Inglewood Amphitheater in Edward Vincent Jr Park, behind the Agree Playhouse, 714 Warren Land, Inglewood, in April and May. The project is made possible by the City of Inglewood and its Growing Artists Performed Projects (IGAPP) Initiative that exposes Inglewood audiences to the practices of contemporary artists and supports the work and growth of artists.
