I recently got the chance to sit down with Seattle Theater staple David Edward Hughes to pick his brain on his career, his views on the state of local theater and, most importantly, his new theater company Sing Out Louise! Theatricals which will be announcing their inaugural season at their gala event on August 26th. An evening guaranteed to be filled to the brim with songs old, new and strange.

Forward Flux Sets 2016 Season
'We are thrilled to bring another line up of the best new plays from emerging playwrights around the country to Seattle,' said Artistic Director Wesley Fruge. After ending 2015 with the hit production of Green Whales by Lia Romeo ('Top Ten of 2015' -David-Edward Hughes), the company will be presenting Romeo's newest play, Ends of the Earth as part of The Flux Salon series. Romeo says, 'Forward Flux does everything right. They present plays that are innovative but also audience-friendly, and they showcase new writers and under-represented voices.'
2014 Gypsy Rose Lee Award Winners Announced!
Joshua Carter, currently working the national musical tour of Once, wins Performance in a Musical as a Lead Actor (Male) for his work in Little Shop of Horrors, along with his co-lead, Jessica Skerritt. Bill Berry wins as well as director of the co-production of ACT Theatre and The 5th Avenue Theater (housed at ACT).
The Whistler Museum to House Canada's Finest E.J. Hughes Collection
At a news gathering held at the Vancouver home of art collectors Jacques Barbeau and Marguerite Owen, it was revealed that the couple has offered the Audain Art Museum 'the best 15 paintings' from their collection of 80 original works by the late B.C. artist E.J. Hughes. These paintings, along with four Hughes paintings in Michael Audain's own collection, will combine to make a permenant display in a space to be named the Barbeau-Owen Gallery.
