Breaking Glass Pictures to bring TIFF's Santa & Andres to North America
Breaking Glass Pictures has acquired North American rights to Carlos Lechuga's (MELAZA) controversial Cuban LGBT/drama SANTA & ANDRES. Breaking Glass acquired North American rights to the film in May in a deal negotiated between Breaking Glass CEO Rich Wolff and Habanero Film Sales CEO Alfredo Calvino at the Marche du Film during the Cannes Film Festival. Breaking Glass is planning a limited theatrical release followed by DVD/VOD early in the 4th Quarter of 2017.

Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co. will present RIFF RAFF by Laurence Fishburne at Angel Island, 735 W. Sheridan. It opened tonight, September 22, 2011 at 8 p.m. and runs Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 7 p.m. Tickets are $18 on Thursday and Sunday, $20 on Friday, and $22 on Saturday. The show will close on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 7 p.m.
Powerhouse Afro-Cuban Band Comes to Opera House
Straight from Cuba, this 13-piece band, led by flautist Orlando "Maraca" Valle, has been called "the most influential Afro-Cuban band of the emerging century" (Chicago Tribune) and "one of the hottest names in jazz" (LA Times).
