Continuing a successful UK-wide tour throughout 2018, Oliver Phelps and Deborah Grant will join the cast of The Classic Thriller Theatre Company's The Case of the Frightened Lady. Film star Oliver Phelps will make his stage debut, having played the character of George Weasley in one of the most successful film franchises of all time, Harry Potter. He is joined by TV's Deborah Grant, who amongst her many roles has starred in the BBC's Not Going Out and Bergerac.

BroadwayWorld is excited to report that an industry reading of the new musical took place today, February 19, at Baryshnikov Arts Center, starring Robert Creighton (Benny), Lora Lee Gayer (Ann Darrow), Marc Kudisch (Carl Denham) and Euan Morton (Jack Driscoll). And to add to the excitement, Tony nominee Joshua Bergasse has also joined the production as choreographer.

Now BroadwayWorld has just learned that a developmental reading of the new musical will take place this October in New York City. Directed by Tony Award-nominee Eric D. Shaeffer, this version features a book and lyrics by Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winner Marsha Norman and a score by Marius De Vries and Tony Award-winner Jason Robert Brown.
Produced by Carmen Pavlovic and Roy Furman, a production schedule for KING KONG will be announced at a later date.

KING KONG, which ran in Australia last year has long been rumored for a trip overseas to Broadway. As previously reported, following a successful run in Melbourne, the producers of KING KONG were planning to bring the mega-musical to Broadway in December 2014. Due to the 'huge scale of the production' and to allow the creative team necessary time to implement changes, the producers decided 'to not rush in before the end of the year.' Now according to the New York Times, the show is eyeing John Rando to direct the Broadway version.
Additionally, Marsha Norman was recently brought on board as the musical's new book writer. A development timeline has not yet been announced.

According to The Age, the creators of the new Australian musical KING KONG are searching for a theater on Broadway. Global Creatures' producer Bill Harris, technical director Richard Martin and production designer Peter England are vetting theaters this week. The team is looking to launch KING KONG in the United States within the next two years.
