FRAME OF MIND Explores The Lived Experience Of Mental Health Through Dance
Do individuals with mental health diagnoses really need to transform themselves to 'fit' into society or can we reimagine a society without barriers? This question is at the heart of FRAME OF MIND, a new production from award-winning dance company Propeller Dance, on at Great Canadian Theatre Company from June 19 - 21. It features a full-length company work in addition to a community art project performed in partnership with the Psychiatric Survivors of Ottawa and the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre.
Anandam Dancetheatre Presents CONTEMPORANEITY 3.0
CONTEMPORANEITY 3.0 is a new presenting series by Anandam Dance theatre in partnership with Toronto Dance Theatre, featuring new works and works-in-progress by artists practicing in Asian, African, Latin American, Arab and Indigenous dance forms. CONTEMPORANEITY 3.0 features dance pieces by NOVA DANCE (Toronto), MIX MIX DANCE COLLECTIVE (Toronto), and PADMINI CHETTUR (India). This new series will be presented April 3 - 6, 2019 at Toronto Dance Theatre.
Silence Presents Justin Gray & Synthesis, Today
This Today evening, October 26th, Silence proudly presents Justin Gray & Synthesis, a contemporary world-jazz ensemble that explores a captivating cross-cultural blend of Indian and western music. The ensemble features Justin Gray on Bass Veena & Electric Bass, Ted Quinlan on guitar, Drew Jurecka on Violin, Ed Hanley on tabla and Derek Gray on drums, percussion & Tibetan singing bowls. Bandleader Justin Gray is an award-winning bassist, composer and producer based out of Toronto, Canada. In 2010, he designed and co-created the bass veena, a multi-stringed instrument, which combines the fretless bass with elements inspired by various Indian stringed instruments. Justin is the first artist to perform on this instrument worldwide.

The Global Cabaret Festival Kicks Off Today
Albert Schultz, Founding Artistic Director of Soulpepper Theatre Company, today announced details of the sixth annual Global Cabaret Festival. From today, October 24 to Sunday, October 27, the Young Centre for the Performing Arts once again becomes home to over 150 of Canada's leading performance artists staging over 15 original one-hour songbooks and cabarets.
