Simon Goodwin's new production of Much Ado About Nothing pulls out all the stops. Visually joyful, with antics and sight-gags galore, this is just the break from election anxiety this town needs. We've been waiting a long time for this one (COVID delayed the premiere by a bit, as you can imagine), and boy was the wait worth it!

Artistic director of Arena Stage in Washington DC Molly Smith directs John Strand's The Originalist about the Supreme Court onstage at the Pasadena Playhouse beginning April 11. The play focuses on a clerkship between a young woman and recently deceased Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia portrayed by Edward Gero. It fits the times to perfection as the two characters spar on a grand scale to defend their interpretation of the truth as written in our constitution. In our chat, Smith talks about the play, its mission, this co-production and also about her work at Arena Stage.

Arena Stage audiences cannot get enough of Justice Antonin Scalia and John Strand's new play THE ORIGINALIST which has premiered in the Kogod Cradle. Performances continue through May 3 and a second extension is scheduled to run May 19 through May 31. Directed by Molly Smith, the play stars one of Washington DC's most recognizable actors, Edward Gero as Scalia. He is joined by Kerry Warren and Harlan Work as two clerks who work for the controversial justice. Broadway World spoke with Kerry Warren about the extension and the impact THE ORIGINALIST is having on audiences.
