Lyft, the nation's fastest-growing on-demand transportation company in the U.S., and The Woodruff Arts Center, one of the largest arts venues in the U.S., are today announcing their new partnership to make it easier for Atlanta arts patrons to get to and from art exhibitions and performances at the popular landmark.
Alliance presents NATIVE GUARD, A Powerful Look At History And Identity

The Alliance Theatre announced details today of its upcoming staging of NATIVE GUARD, the Pulitzer Prize-winning collection of poetry by former U.S. Poet Laureate Natasha Trethewey. In NATIVE GUARD, Trethewey examines national memorials to the Civil War, how we remember history and who tells its story, and how that passed-on history affects our beliefs today. Directed by Alliance Artistic Director Susan V. Booth, NATIVE GUARD expands the traditional definition of theatre while exploring themes of history, identity, memory, and loss. During the Alliance's season-long renovation, NATIVE GUARD will be staged at the Atlanta History Center just steps away from its extraordinary collection of Civil War artifacts, January 13 February 4, 2018. Opening Night is Wednesday, January 17, 2018.

Rehearsals are underway for Alliance Theatre's upcoming production of Shakespeare in Love, based on the 1998 film that won seven Academy Awards including Best Picture. Georgia Shakespeare co-founder and Artistic Director Richard Garner is directing this love letter to William Shakespeare in his company's former home at Oglethorpe University's Conant Performing Arts Center while the Alliance Theatre undergoes a complete renovation. Performances are August 30 - September 24, 2017.  Opening night is Today, September 6. The Center for Civil and Human Rights is Now Open in Atlanta

The Center for Civil and Human Rights, a new center that brings together the history of the American Civil Rights Movement and international human rights efforts, opened this week in Atlanta. David Rockwell and his award-winning firm Rockwell Group designed the Center's exhibitions in collaboration with George C. Wolfe, The Center's chief creative officer for The Center's civil rights gallery, and Jill Savitt, curator for human rights gallery.
