BWW Review: BERNHARDT / HAMLET at Unicorn Theatre

A strong cast presents an excellent Unicorn production of a very new play, Bernhardt/Hamlet, A Woman Unbounda by Theresa Rebeck. Bernhardt/Hamlet is a smart, comedic, reasonably accurate portrait of a middle-aged, financially strapped, giant of the nineteenth century French stage still with her powers intact, but with a paucity of mountains she still desires to climb.

Audiences and critics filled the house for the Opening Night of The Tin Woman at Theatre at the Center (TATC) on Sunday, July 16. This was the Chicagoland premiere of Sean Grennan's newest play starring Erin Noel Grennan in the lead role. The Jeff Recommended play The Tin Woman continues its run at TATC through August 13. The hilarious comedy, Bad Jews, about death, family, identity, and faith opened Saturday on the Jerome Stage of the Unicorn Theatre. Bad Jews the dark comedy written by Joshua Harmon and directed by Cynthia Levin follows three cousins in a battle over an heirloom.

STAGE TUBE: Unicorn Theatre Announces Extension of MY NAME IS ASHER LEV Through May 19

The powerful and emotional play 'My Name is Asher Lev,' onstage at Unicorn Theatre, has been extended an extra week and will now play through May 19, rather than ending May 12 as originally scheduled. 'With such positive response from the audience, and overwhelming ticket sales, we can't help but extend the run of the show', said Cynthia Levin, Unicorn Theatre Producing Artistic Director.
