A former entertainment lawyer, Donovan has run a successful financial advisory practice in New York City for more than 25 years. Together with Colin Ingram, Donovan's Broadway and West End productions of Back To The Future and Ghost received five Tony nominations and twelve Olivier nominations, with Back To The Future winning Best New Musical at the 2023 Olivier Awards. Donovan also produced Breakfast at Tiffany's on Broadway starring Emilia Clarke which won Best New Play at the Broadwayworld.com Awards and he produced a new West End production of Grease in 2022. His production of the film Prey for Rock & Roll starring Gina Gershon premiered at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival and he produced the record Punk Standards by Deborah Dutcher. For his work with showrunner Neil Garguilo, Donovan received an honorary Emmy Award for the Funny or Die series Brainwashed By Toons. He also acted in the Oscar winning film Philadelphia.
