babirye bukilwa’s …cake is an equally heartbreaking and heartwarming exploration of love of all kinds. Part of a trilogy of work from the writer, this story is the prequel to bukilwa’s acclaimed play …blackbird hour, which was shortlisted for the Women’s Prize for Playwriting, the Bruntwood Prize and the Alfred Fagon Award. Directed by Theatre Peckham’s Associate Director, malakaï sargeant, this 90-minute story is exceptional at every moment.

RSC's ROMEO AND JULIET Returns To BBC Two as Part of BBC Lockdown Learning

The Royal Shakespeare Company's (RSC) 2018 production of Romeo and Juliet will be broadcast on BBC Two at 2pm on Tuesday 9 February as part of the BBC's Lockdown Learning's Shakespeare Week.  The production will then be available on BBC iPlayer for 60 days.  

RSC's HAMLET With Paapa Essiedu, and More Will Be Broadcast on BBC Four

The Royal Shakespeare Company production of Macbeth (2018) will be broadcast on BBC Four this Sunday 14 June at 9.30pm as part of Culture in Quarantine. This will be followed by Simon Godwin's landmark production of Hamlet (2016) with Paapa Essiedu in the title role on Sunday 21 June at 9pm.

The Young Vic's Sold Out Run Of FAIRVIEW Extends

Due to public demand, the Young Vic today announces that the currently sold out production of Jackie Sibblies Drury's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Fairview will extend until Thursday 23 January 2020 for six additional performances. These additional performances are on sale now, Friday 6 December, with tickets priced from £10 - £43.

This is no ordinary play. Though it begins in a fairly conventional manner, setting up for a hearty family drama, there are little things to pick up on which tell you that something's not quite right a?' it's unsettling and you can't quite put your finger on it, but you know that the play has something up its sleeve. Playwright Jackie Sibblies Drury says in the programme, a?oeOh, to not spoil Fairview I can basically tell you nothing!a?? a?' that makes it a challenge to review, but having now witnessed it I have to endorse her statement. You must step into the unknown with this one.
