Materials For The Arts Hosts Earth Month Virtual Gallery April 16 In Celebration
On Thursday, April 16, 2020, Materials for the Arts (MFTA) will host a virtual gallery opening for the show Contemporary Reuse 2020. Contemporary Reuse is an annual exhibition showcasing the work of artists who make creative reuse a central part of their practice. The virtual tour will be hosted on Webex, where MFTA will stream a guided tour of the exhibition, followed by a live, interactive Q&A discussion with artists whose work is included in the exhibition.

BRIC Announces Winners Of $100K Art Prize
BRIC, Brooklyn's leading presenter of arts and cultural programming, is pleased to announce the recipients of the first Colene Brown Art Prize, which awards ten under-recognized New York-based visual artists with $10,000 unrestricted grants. The Colene Brown Art Prize is underwritten by artist and BRIC Board Member Deborah Brown in memory of her late mother, Colene Brown, and is funded through the Harold and Colene Brown Family Foundation.

The season, running October 2019 through March 2020, serves as a sampler of some of the most arresting artists in the current performance scene.
BlakTinX Series ignites Fall Season at BAAD
The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance kicks off its fall season with the BlakTinX Performance Series from September 25 to November 23, 2019. This annual multidisciplinary festival inaugurated in 2002 celebrates art and performance by Black, Latinx and artists of color. Melody Capote Appointed Executive Director Of Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute
The Board of Directors of the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute are excited to usher in a new chapter in the organization's evolution, with the unanimous appointment of Melody Capote as Executive Director. For over thirty of the forty-two years CCCADI has been in existence, Ms. Capote has worked alongside founder Dr. Marta Moreno Vega, first as a development associate and later as deputy director. She has been instrumental in developing CCCADI into one of the world's most vital institutions for the preservation of African Diaspora culture, positioned within a lens of social justice. Ms. Capote's experience and commitment to CCCADI makes her a uniquely qualified candidate for the position of executive director. We are thrilled to welcome her into this position.
