BIO

DONALD GARVERICK has been a director, choreographer, writer, lyricist, and teacher working out of New York City since 1996. Directing credits include The Office! A Musical Parody (Jerry Orbach Theater, NYC) 90210! The Musical (Theatre 80, NYC and Broadway Playhouse, Chicago) To Dance! The Musical (NY Fringe Festival, NYC.) Choreography credits include The Red Shoes starring Kathryn Morgan (Kennedy Center, DC) and Siren's Heart (Actor's Temple, NYC.) As a writer, he is best known for the international hit Show Choir! - The Musical (American Conservatory Theatre, Winnipeg Studio Theatre, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland at Edinburgh Fringe, New York Musical Festival.) Donald is also the creator and resident judge of The Cabaret Showdown, a monthly game show running at The Kraine Theatre since 2011.

The Cabaret Showdown is a game show produced by Sound Street Productions in association with Frigid New York @ Horse Trade since 2011. This unique competition is a mixture of live karaoke and musical improvisation, with a game board. Contestants are asked to choose songs from various categories with no knowledge of what the song will be until 30 seconds before they sing. The winner from each month receives a free one-hour showcase performance at the Kraine Theater. Contestants can register in advance at the official website.
