Don Farrell is an actor, a singer, a dancer, a producer, a concert soloist, a father and all around nice guy! He is the President and CEO of Crossroads Entertainment, LLC - a professional production and performing company (www.crossroads-ent.com ). He is also the Artistic Director and a co-founder of Actors Theatre of Indiana (www.atistage.org ), Hamilton County's only professional Equity Theatre company and the resident professional theatre company at the Center for the Performing Arts. Together with his colleagues and co-founders, he oversees the creation & implementation of all ATI programming and, since its inception in 2005, has helped grow ATI from a small professional theatre company to an award-winning and vital member of the Central Indiana arts scene.
For ATI, he has produced every production of its 18+ year history including The Palladium debuts of Two-time TONY award winning Sutton Foster (An Evening with Sutton Foster) and Two-time TONY winning Broadway legend Chita Rivera (CHITA: A Legendary Celebration) both to critical acclaim. He has directed many shows for ATI including Beyond the Rainbow: The Frances Gumm Story (Indiana premiere), Sisters of Swing: The Story of the Andrews Sisters (Indiana premiere), My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra (Central Indiana premiere), COLE (Professional premiere), And The World Goes ‘Round, Rounding Third, A Grand Night For Singing, The Taffetas; Forever Plaid; and I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change. Mr. Farrell has been a member of Actors' Equity Association since 1992, is a veteran of the concert/ theatrical stage and has worked steadily in practically every capacity of the business. He has spent over 35 years working as a professional singer, dancer, actor, director, choreographer, and producer with a career that includes Off-Broadway, International Tour, National Tour, Las Vegas, Regional, Symphony concerts and Educational productions. He received his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in Music Theatre from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. He has served as a member of the drama faculty for NYC’s premier musical theatre training conservatory Collaborative Arts Project 21, has taught drama workshops and master classes for theatre companies and universities and is a scholarship adjudicator for the National Society of Arts and Letters (NSAL) Music Theatre Competition.
He made his Off-Broadway debut as Jimmy O’Flaherty at the Sylvia & Danny Kaye Playhouse in Irene starring Penny Worth, Alex Korey, Lee Roy Reams, George S. Irving and Ruth Warrick. His subsequent returns to the stage have been as varying as they were lauded, from the vengeance seeking title role of Sweeney Todd in Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, to the guilt ridden John Proctor in The Crucible, to his flamboyantly dramatic Albin/Zaza in La Cage Aux Folles, to his devilishly comical portrayal of Mr. Applegate in Damn Yankees, to the grumpy yet lovable Toad in A Year with Frog and Toad. He originated the role of “Louis” in the world premiere of Last of the Red Hot Mamas, the Sophie Tucker Revue-sical and “Ruby Waxman” in the world premiere of TUNING IN.
He co-created COMPLETELY CHRISTMAS - MEMORIES, MISTLETOE, AND MANGER INCLUDED!, which has enjoyed three successful holiday seasons for Actors Theatre of Indiana.
He is the creator of his one-man-cabaret shows ALL THE WAY - A Frank Sinatra Tribute and ONE VOICE: The Music of Manilow which have been playing monthly to SOLD OUT performances at Feinstein's at Hotel Carmichael in Carmel, IN (www.feinsteinshc.com) and at venues across the nation.
