Elvis Presley's Graceland Announces Plans for Elvis Week 2020 at Graceland in Memphis
Elvis Week 2020 will mark the 43rd anniversary of Elvis' passing and Graceland® is preparing for the gathering of Elvis fans and friends from around the world for the nine-day celebration of Elvis' life. Events include appearances by celebrities and musicians, live concerts, panel discussions, Meet & Greet opportunities, parties, fan events, the new Elite Auction at Graceland, the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest and much more. This fall, The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture presents special events featuring some of brightest poets, spoken word and rap artists. Participating artists include poet Sarah Kay; acclaimed spoken word poet Anis Mojgani, writer, poet and author Clint Smith; poet, essayist, and cultural critic Hanif Abdurraqib; celebrated spoken word poet Caridad de la Cruz; two-time Tony Award nominee, Grammy nominee, and author reg. e. gaines; Pulitzer Prize winning poet Sharon Olds and spoken word poet and founder and co-director of Project V.O.I.C.E.and T.S. The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture has announced its 2018 Fall/Winter season, a rich program of theater, film, music, poetry, art, and talk events featuring artists and thought leaders including Princeton professors Cornel Westand Robert P. George; Grammy Award winner George Winston; two-time Tony Award nominee, Grammy nominee, and author Reg E. Gaines; Pulitzer Prize, Tony Award and Oscar-winning writer and director John Patrick Shanley; Pulitzer Prize winning poet Sharon Olds; the Tony-nominated star of Harry Potter & The Cursed Child, Jamie Parker;Suzzy Roche and Lucy Wainwright Roche with special guests The Indigo Girls; Benedictine nun and former Hollywood leading lady Mother Dolores Hart, O.S.B.; Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York; and events tackling topical national themes including civility on college campuses; police and refugee relations; and race, faith and identity politics.
Da Capo Society To Host WIZARD OF OZ Costume Contest
Sarasota Opera's Da Capo Society, the only young patrons group, ages 21 - 45, dedicated to a single arts organization in Sarasota, will host The Wizard of Oz themed costume contest Thursday, June 7th at 6pm to celebrate the launch of the new season of "Classic Movies at the Opera House." Launched in 2017, the "Classic Movies at the Opera House" series will occur twice monthly starting Thursday, June 7 and will include timeless films designed to be enjoyed on the big screen in the elegance of the Opera House. Each presentation will begin at 7:30pm.
Sarasota Opera Expands Summer Movie Series In 2018
Sarasota Opera is pleased to announce the line-up for the 2018 season of 'HD at the Opera House' and "Classic Movies at the Opera House". This weekly series of filmed performances has allowed Sarasota Opera to expand its programming from the fall and winter season to year-around. The 2018 "HD at the Opera House" series will open on Sunday, May 20th and run through September 30th and will include presentations of Ballet and Theater from some of the world's most famous venues and companies including the Royal Opera House; Teatro alla Scala in Milan; Royal Shakespeare Company; Vienna State Opera; and the Royal Ballet. Each presentation will begin at 1:30pm.

The eighth annual Are You Dense? MusicFest headlined by Las Vegas-based Elvis impersonator, Justin Shandor, is taking place at the Palace Theater in Waterbury on Saturday, Jun. 18. Doors open at 6 p.m. with a silent auction, raffle and music by The Sounds of Leo, and the show begins at 7:15 p.m. Proceeds from the event benefit Are You Dense Inc., a global organization founded by Woodbury resident Dr. Nancy M. Cappello to educate the public about the impact of dense breast tissue on missed, delayed and later stage breast cancer and to increase survival in the fight against breast cancer. BWW Previews: SISTER ACT THE MUSICAL at State Theatre, New Brunswick
This December the national tour of SISTER ACT THE MUSICAL is coming to the Garden State with stops in New Brunswick and Morristown. First up, the show will play the historic State Theatre in New Brunswick for three performances on December 12th and 13th. The SISTERs then swing back through New Jersey to perform at the Mayo Center for the Performing Arts in Morristown on January 31st and February 1st.
