Soul to Soul, the electrifying and emotionally captivating theatrical concert that explores the parallels of African American and Jewish history takes the stage this Martin Luther King, Jr. Day weekend. Presented by the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF), Soul to Soul will include for the first time the participation of Oscar- and Grammy-nominated IMPACT Repertory Theatre. The event will begin with an introduction by Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, Executive Vice President of The New York Board of Rabbis, and New York City Council Member Robert E. Cornegy, Jr., who represents the Council's 36th District spanning Bedford Stuyvesant and Crown Heights.

Safra Plaza, 36 Battery Place, NYC. This event is part of Carnegie Hall's Migrations: The Making of America festival.

Traditional holiday melodies, the jazziest klezmer tunes and musical surprises from renowned performers like vocalist Magda Fishman, vocalist and actress Rachel Yucht, virtuoso bouzouki player Avram Pengas, clarinetist Dimitry Zisl Slepovitch and several others filled the air when the National Yiddish Theater Folksbiene kicked off New York City's Chanukah season with a free community-wide 'Songs of Chanukah' concert last weekend in the Winter Garden at Brookfield Place. Its 96th consecutive seaon will be like no other, as the Drama Desk Award-winning National Yiddish Theatre - Folksbiene presents two new plays in the fall that demonstrate the broad scope and appeal of its programming. In 'Fyvush Finkel Live!' -- the world premiere of a musical revue starring the legendary Fyvush Finkel -- Folksbiene shows off its talent to produce good, old-fashioned entertainment that delights audiences of any age. In 'New Worlds: A Celebration of I.L. Peretz' -- starring the noted French performance artist Rafael Goldwaser -- Folksbiene nurtures new artists to add modern works to the Yiddish theatre's rich legacy. Both shows are presented at The Baruch Performing Arts Center, 55 Lexigton Avenue (at 25th Street).
