“The New York Philharmonic This Week” To Air Highlights Of Jaap Van Zweden's Inaugural Season

The New York Philharmonic announces the first broadcasts of The New York Philharmonic This Week to feature performances from Jaap van Zweden's inaugural season as Music Director. Highlights include the World Premiere of Conrad Tao's Everything Must Go; Shostakovich's Symphony No. 7, Leningrad; Beethoven's Symphony No. 7; and Brahms's Ein deutsches Requiem, featuring The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence Matthias Goerne. The broadcasts will feature conversations with Jaap van Zweden and others. Additional broadcasts featuring Jaap van Zweden's inaugural season will be announced at a later date. The award-winning national and international weekly radio series hosted by Alec Baldwin is currently in its 15th season.
Osmo Vänskä To Conclude Tenure As Minnesota Orchestra Music Director Following 2021-22 Season

Osmo Vanska announced plans today at the Minnesota Orchestra's annual meeting to conclude his tenure as Music Director of the Minnesota Orchestra in August 2022. The 2021-22 season, his final as music director, will mark his 19th year at the helm of the Minnesota Orchestra, capping what is widely considered one of the great musical partnerships in Minnesota Orchestra history. Beyond 2022, Mr. Vanska and the Minnesota Orchestra will maintain their musical relationship, with Mr. Vanska returning for ongoing concert engagements.

The New York Philharmonic has named Barbara Haws Archivist and Historian Emeritus for her leadership role in the creation, curation, and expansion of the Philharmonic's extensive Archives for almost 34 years. She will retire from the Philharmonic in August 2018 and pursue a doctorate in musicology when she matriculates at New College, University of Oxford, in October.
