HURRICANE DIANE Opens at Trustus Theatre This Week
Hurricane Diane opens at Trustus Theatre on Friday, December 2nd and runs for ten shows through December 17th. THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW Returns To Trustus Theatre
The Rocky Horror Show returns to the Thigpen Main Stage just in time for Halloween. Running September 30th through October 29th, this spooky, sensual fan-favorite is directed and choreographed by Trustus Company member Terrance Henderson and musically directed by Company Emeritus Chris Cockrell with company member Walter Graham returning to the role of Frank'N'Furter.
FIRST DATE Comes to Trustus Theatre This Month
The perfect date night show comes to Trustus Theatre this summer. First Date, Broadway’s musical comedy, opens on the Thigpen Main Stage on Friday, June 17th and runs through July 16th. The show features an ensemble cast led by Trustus Company members Michael Hazin and Brittany Hammock, and includes Company members Kevin Bush, Robin Gottlieb, and Jonathan Monk, as well as Rachael Mitchum and Jacob Wilson.
Trustus Theatre Presents DANCE NATION
Trustus Theatre's 37th season continues with the regional premiere of Dance Nation, Clare Barron's award-winning play about pre-teen competetive dancers and the burden of adolescence. Trustus staff member Abigail McNeely directs the show with choreography by Brailey Johnson, assisted by Shaundra Moreland.
Trustus Theatre Announces Two Special Events For This Weekend
Trustus Theatre will hold two special events the weekend of April 8 through April 10, 2022. Trustus Theatre brings back a beloved show this November: Intimate Apparel, written by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage. Intimate Apparel offers both a historical exploration into the black experience in America in the beginning of the 20th century, as well as a personal exploration into how societal constructs directly affect an individual's opportunities and choices.
Trustus Theatre Opens 35th Anniversary Season With COMPANY
Trustus Theatre opens their 35th Anniversary Season with the 1971 Tony Award-Winning musical, Company. Originally set in the '70s, this production has been reimagined to a modern landscape where swiping right, liking, and sharing are all part of starting a relationship and will leave us pondering how true human connections begin these days. Company will open up on The Thigpen Main Stage on Friday September 27, and will run through Saturday, October 26, 2019. Shows will run Thursday through Sunday for five packed weekends. Coming To Trustus Theatre: SWEAT By Lynn Nottage
Trustus Theatre brings its second Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Sweat by Lynn Nottage, to its stage this season. Sweat, the second most produced play in the United States this season, brings to light the harsh realities of what it's like to survive on minimum wage in one of the poorest cities in the country and the dissolution of the American dream. This play speaks to Columbia's history-once a regional textile manufacturing center with six mills in operation and 3,400 millworkers-and to how easily the American dream can be lost when the country's economy struggles.
