This year's presenters include political consultant and former Senior Advisor to President Obama David Axelrod, revolutionary chef, restaurateur and TV personality Rick Bayless, celebrated author of Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and Eating Animals Jonathan Safran Foer, autism activist and author Temple Grandin, 59 Grand Slam title-winning tennis player Martina Navratilova, critically-acclaimed director of Boys Don't Cry and the recently released Carrie remake Kimberly Peirce, author of A Series of Unfortunate Events Lemony Snicket (Daniel Handler), author of The Secret History and the newly released novel The Goldfinch Donna Tartt, and many more.

Chicago Humanities Festival Unveils Full Fall 2013 Performing Arts Lineup; Kicks Off 10/13
The Chicago Humanities Festival (CHF) announced today several of its performing arts presentations for the 2013 Fall Festival, which will explore the theme of Animal: What Makes Us Human, Oct. 13, 20, and Nov. 1-10 at venues across Chicago. CHF will present more performing arts offerings than ever before, spotlighting music, theater, performance art, and dance. Offerings include: a performance of Voice of the Whale featuring flutist and founder of International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) Claire Chase; Chicago-based Jazz band The Fat Babies; pianist Anthony Molinaro; two theater productions:Rainpan 43's homage to magic Elephant Room and Iranian playwright Nassim Soleimanpour's White Rabbit, Red Rabbit; a double feature event with performance artists Holly Hughes and Deke Weaver; and an exploration of South Asian myths by Chicago's Kalapriya Dance.

Center Theatre Group Artistic Director Michael Ritchie has set the 2012-2013 season at the CTG/Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City. In a season of contrasts - of surprising comedy and startling drama, the 2012-2013 season at the Kirk Douglas Theatre will include the magical and mystical hi-jinks of the CTG-commissioned "Elephant Room" by Trey Lyford, Geoff Sobelle and Steve Cuiffo; the acclaimed Gate Theatre Dublin production of the Beckett classic "Krapp's Last Tape" with one of Britain's greatest actors, John Hurt; the comic genius of The Second City with their unique, satirical twist on a Dickens's favorite - "A Christmas Carol: Twist Your Dickens!" written by Peter Gwinn and Bobby Mort; the world premiere of the otherworldly drama "The Nether" by the 2012 Susan Blackburn Smith prize-winning playwright Jennifer Haley; and the world premiere of the powerful boxing drama "The Royale" by Los Angeles playwright Marco Ramirez.
Downtown Urban Theater Festival Announces A TRAIN, 3/31
The Downtown Urban Theater Festival (DUTF) presents two showcase performances of "A Train" as part of its 10thAnniversary season on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at HERE in SoHo, NYC. A TRAIN, a new work under development by DUTF, is a coming-of-age story about a group of teenagers growing up in modern day NYC. It is directed by Reg E. Gaines, Tony-nominated writer of Bring in da Noise Bring in da Funk, and features the music of Dennis Diamond and Corey Glover, lead singer of the Grammy Award-winning band Living Colour.
