Original Production of FOLLIES Will Reunite at BroadwayCon 2018
The original production of Follies will reunite at BroadwayCon 2018, ahead of the original Broadway production's 47th anniversary. Moderated by Jennifer Ashley Tepper (The Untold Stories of Broadway), Follies: The Original Production Reunion will bring together Steve Boockvor (original cast), Ted Chapin (original production assistant, author of Everything Was Possible), Mary Jane Houdina (original Young Hattie, assistant to Bennett), Denise Pence (original swing), Kurt Peterson (original Young Ben), and Jonathan Tunick (orchestration) and more as they share stories about when life was fun but oh so intense.
J. Elaine Marcos to Host Broadway Artists Connection's Next 'Open Mic & Mingle'
The Broadway Artists Connection (BAC) presents Broadway Artists & Friends Open Mic & Mingle hosted by eight time Broadway Veteran & comedian J. Elaine Marcos on Monday, October 10th at 7pm (doors open at 6pm). The evening will be kicked off by a stellar line up of Broadway pros (listed below) followed by selected artists at the legendary Laurie Beechman Theatre, 407 W 42nd St.
Articulate Theatre Selects Playwrights for 'Articulating the Arts'
Articulate Theatre Company is proud to announce the playwrights chosen for their signature event, Articulating the Arts. Each AtA is themed around an artistic discipline, such as architecture, dance, painting, and for this event, folk music. Our playwrights use these other art forms as inspiration for new plays, resulting in an increased connection between theatre artists and artists of other disciplines. Subtitled 'Folk City Scenes' this Articulating the Arts will showcase plays inspired by folk songs such as City of New Orleans, Puff the Magic Dragon, and Turn! Turn! Turn! The full show listing is:

On Monday, April 27th, the Metropolitan Room was packed with Broadway & Aspiring artists who shared new works and cheered each other on at the Broadway Artists & Friends Open Mic & Mingle. Hosted by JERSEY BOYS' Peter Gregus, audiences were treated to an up close look at singers trying out new songs & sharing their stories. STAGE TUBE: A Touching Tribute to Broadway Casting Director Barry Moss
Broadway, film and television casting director Barry Moss passed away in Manhattan on June 17, 2014. He was 74. A video tribute, created by Denise Pence and 'Broadway: The Golden Age' film trilogy filmmaker Rick McKay, honored the legendary casting director at a Memorial Tribute held in Moss's honor in New York City today, September 29th. The 12-minute video tribute includes an interview with 50-year friend John Rubinstein, who is on the road in the new PIPPIN and could not attend, and some rare footage of Lucie Arnaz performing 'They're Playing Our Song,' both shot by McKay. First Annual Playwrighting Fest Held 4/1, 2 Benefits YMCA
The Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater at the West Side YMCA will host its First Annual Playwrighting Festival on April 1 and 2 at 8pm. Playwrights from throughout the tri-state region submitted their work for consideration. Nine 10-15 minute plays were selected and will be presented on stage, with proceeds from ticket sales benefiting the West Side YMCA's Strong Kids Campaign.
