The Waterfront Theatre School, Cape Town's most established college for the Performing Arts, will hold their annual national auditions in Bloemfontein, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Johannesburg from 9 September 2019.

The Waterfront Theatre School will present From the Top at the Masque Theatre in Muizenberg from 29 August to 7 September 2019. The dazzling annual dance showcase, a sell-out every year, will feature an ensemble cast of 60 dancers, beautifully costumed by the School's Founder and Managing Director, the legendary Delia Sainsbury. The prestigious Waterfront Theatre School (WTS) is well known for its international standard of dance and From the Top will once again bring the incredible versatility of this multidisciplinary performing arts centre to the fore.
Waterfront Theatre School To Take Part In BRICS Drama Festival In Moscow
The Waterfront Theatre School (WTS) in Cape Town is headed to Russia this month. A group of students from the prestigious performing arts school in Cape Town has once again been invited by The University of Theatre Arts in Moscow with the support of the Presidential Grant Fund, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Moscow Culture Department to take part in the 3rd BRICS Countries Drama Schools Festival from May 27 to June 6, 2019. The project has also received support from the Western Cape Department of Arts and Culture, Proud Partners, the South African National Dance Trust (SANDT) and The M Lahann Trust. The Festival seeks to examine how Performing Arts Colleges in BRICS countries explore typically Eurocentric styles of theatre while maintaining cultural relevance and resonance. This year the festival topic is Greek Theatre and the chosen text is Oedipus Rex. All participants are required to prepare extracts from the text for performance.
March Opening for COCK at the Alexander Bar and Café's Upstairs Theatre
Mike Bartlett's drama, COCK, in a production directed by Paul Griffiths and starring Francis Chouler, Matt Newman, Melissa Haiden and James Skilton, comes to Alexander Bar and Cafe's Upstairs Theatre this March. Winner of the 2010 Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre, Bartlett's sharp, witty script takes a candid look at one mans sexuality and the difficulties that arise when faced with a whole new world of possibility.
