Deejay Young is an award-winning singer/songwriter, actor, & performer, hailing from Tampa, Florida. Getting his first start at the young age of 5 on tour of the Gospel-theatrical stage play, "Daddy Please Don't Leave", he continued performing, & in 2019 joined the 1st Nat’l Tour of the hit-musical HAMILTON as a principal standby.
Young has also been highly received in Gospel arena, and has worked with Grammy Winners: Yolanda Adams, & superstar duo, Mary Mary, who hand chose him, along with television network, WeTV to perform at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans as the 2014 Raise Your Voice Contest winner.
In 2023, Young joined Team Legend on NBC’s The Voice, singing a Maxwell inspired rendition of “This Woman’s Work” by Kate Bush, which was well received by critics.
In Spring 2024, he made his Broadway Debut, starring as Aaron Burr in the NYC company of HAMILTON.
He has several albums: "The Rebirth" (2013), an award-winning EP, "Unplugged" (2016), studio album PRIMITIVE (2020) & live album The Primitive Sessions: Live (2021) both debuted on the Top 10 R&B/Soul US Albums "charts & Holiday album, “An Unplugged Christmas" was an Amazon Music Top Holiday Albums seller upon release.
For his recorded works, Young has garnered 4 Independent Music Awards & 2 Contemporary Acapella Recording Awards.
