When Helen's lesbian partner of twenty years dies unexpectedly in minor surgery, Helen and her daughter want answers. Confused by the hospital's silence around the death, they bring a lawsuit against the doctors. Now Dr. Becca Neal must confront her feelings about losing her patient while she juggles the demands of a lawsuit. Love Alone tracks the fallout in both the patient's and the doctor's homes, as both households navigate uncharted waters of anger, humor, and longing. This powerful story of how we grieve and how we heal speaks to an essential truth: We will all be patients one day.

Trinity Rep Announces THE PRINCE OF PROVIDENCE and Other New Play Commissions
Trinity Repertory Company is proud to announce the commission of a number of new playwrights and artists, including George Brant to write the stage version of The New York Times bestseller The Prince of Providence: The Life and Times of Buddy Cianci, America's Most Notorious Mayor, Some Wiseguys, and the Feds by Mike Stanton. Trinity Rep obtained the underlying rights to the book from Stanton and subsequently commissioned Brant to create a play or musical adaptation. The resulting script will go through a series of workshops to prepare it for production on the Trinity Rep stage in a future season. Casting will be announced at a future date. The book, which came out in 2004, examines the life and notorious political story of Buddy Cianci, the two-term mayor whose corruption led to federal investigations.

Opening City Theatre's 10th anniversary season, the Austin premiere play Love Alone by Deborah Salem Smith pulls no punches as it lays bare the emotions of two families after a routine medical procedure goes tragically wrong. The New York Times calls Love Alone a, "lucid, deeply nuanced and fearless work." The Boston Globe calls it "…first rate…a gleaming gem." And The Providence Journal says Love Alone is 'thought-provoking, well-written, and just darn good theater.' The show runs three weekends October 2 - 18.
