Shakespeare & Co. Wins Six Berkshire Theatre Critics Awards
Shakespeare & Company is proud to have been honored with six Berkshire Theatre Critics Awards. At a ceremony held in Pittsfield last week, the Board of the Berkshire Theatre Critics Association presented 23 Berkshire Theatre Awards. This was the fourth year the awards have been presented to honor and celebrate the excellence and diversity of theatre in the greater Berkshire region.

Shakespeare & Company Presents AS YOU LIKE IT
Shakespeare & Company presents William Shakespeare's beloved comedy As You Like It, directed by the Company's Artistic Director Allyn Burrows, who helmed last season's acclaimed production of The Tempest. The Bard's madcap story follows Rosalind, played by two-time Elliot Norton Award winner Aimee Doherty, who escapes a threatening world of oppression in the pursuit of love and the prospect of new horizons. Set in the Roaring Twenties, As You Like It will be performed outdoors in The Roman Garden Theatre, specially reconfigured for the season's special sunset performances running from August 9 to September 2.

Shakespeare & Company presents William Shakespeare's Macbeth, directed by Obie Award-winning director Melia Bensussen. Shakespeare's stunning classic of blind ambition and corrosive power runs from July 3 - August 5 in the Tina Packer Playhouse.

Exploring themes of Delight, Deceit, and Desire, the season includes three Shakespeare plays: Macbeth, As You Like It, and Love's Labor's Lost; plus the New England Premiere of Morning After Grace by Carey Crim; Creditors by August Strindberg adapted by David Greig; Heisenberg by Laurence Olivier Award winner Simon Stephens; Mothers and Sons by Tony Award-winning playwright Terrence McNally; and HIR by Pulitzer Prize finalist Taylor Mac.
RICHARD III is Coming to Harvard Square's Swedenborg Chapel
Continuing its season of The Downfall of the Despots, Actors' Shakespeare Project (ASP) kicks off 2018 with Richard III, William Shakespeare's stunning portrait of Machiavellian genius and the murderous quest for absolute power. Under the direction of Resident Acting Company member Robert Walsh***, the original game of thrones comes alive in an intimate staging at the Swedenborg Chapel (50 Quincy Street, Harvard Square, Cambridge) February 7 March 11, 2018.

Senator Elizabeth Warren and the rest of the Opening NIght Audience at Shakespeare & Co's production of Cymbeline didn't have to fill the suggestion box labeled 'Tell Us Why You LIke Shakespeare' in the lobby of the Tina Packer Playhouse with answers to that question. They did it with their many standing ovations for the 9 actors and director Tina Packer at the conclusion of a magnificent and energetic performance of the complex plot driven play by Shakespeare.  There are a lot of exciting things going on at Shakespeare & Co. in Lenox MA. and artistic director Allyn Burrows in his toast at the jubilant after party stated 'first to the unknown and to the road ahead'!

Shakespeare & Company will commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Bard during this 39th performance season with a newly configured theatre, and will debut its first production in-the-round with The Merchant of Venice, directed by Founder Tina Packer and featuring Jonathan Epstein as Shylock.
