The Verdi Chorus Offers Its First Online Concert April 18
In place of its previously scheduled Live Concert on April 18, The Verdi Chorus will offer its first online concert: a streaming of its Spring 2018 program The Force of Destiny led by Founding Artistic Director Anne Marie Ketchum. The concert will be launched online April 18 at 7:30pm on the Verdi Chorus website at https://www.verdichorus.org and will also be available on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/VerdiChorus/

The Broad Stage's annual Broad Fest returns on Sunday, September 1, 2019 from 2:00pm a?" 7:00pm. This free, all-ages festival features music and dancing, activities for kids and adults, plus sweets and food available for purchase. Start on the plaza, groove with a live DJ or make an art project, then explore the lobby, theaters and Music Hall for an array of performances and activities to pique your creative spirit and celebrate the arts in your community.

BWW Review: TANGUEROS DEL SUR PRESENTS ROMPER EL PISO - A PURE TANGO TREAT at The Younes And Soraya Nazarian Center For The Performing Arts (The Soraya)
Natalia Hills, Artistic Director/Choreographer and Creator of Tangueros del Sur's "Romper el Piso," or "Break the Floor," is from a long line of generations of tango dancers. She was an original member of the phenomenal Broadway Show "Forever Tango," which garnered many accolades in the mid-nineties. She founded this company in 2009. They have performed all over the world, most lately this year in Greece, performing in 18 of the most ancient theaters in Greece. Her mission through this performance is to show the evolvement of Argentine tango from the Afro-Argentine beginning to the many influences of different musical cultures and artists that shaped the dance elements that you see today, but still to pay homage to the roots of the dance and to keep the origins sacred and preserve the essence of tradition.

This time-honored tale of forgiveness plays 17 performances only, Saturday, December 1 through Sunday, December 23, 2018. After the show, audience members are invited to enjoy a cup of cider and take photos with the cast.

For the past 35 years, members of The Verdi Chorus have celebrated their shared love of music, and their ability to raise those goosebumps, by lifting their voices in song. This spring, they will mark their milestone anniversary with two special concerts on April 28th and 29th at the First United Methodist Church in Santa Monica. On the program: nothing less than four passion-filled scenes by Verdi from La Forza del Destino, Nabucco, and La Traviata, plus a big finish from Johann Strauss' effervescent operetta, Die Fledermaus.

Boston Court Performing Arts Center presents a reimagined modern take of Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire (February 15 - March 25, 2018; press opening, February 24). The community panels and discussions have been announced for this radical re-envisioning of Streetcar which will feature a multicultural cast and modern setting, pushing on the play's present-day relevance. This selection of panel discussions and post-show Illuminations will allow for a deep discussion on A Streetcar Named Desire and its many prevalent themes, especially in regards to this production, which is presented within a contemporary and urban environment, highlighting the pertinence of the play for our divided America.

Curated by Literary Manager Emilie Beck, in concert with Artistic Directors Jessica Kubzansky and Michael Michetti, the New Play Reading Festival is a key component of Boston Court's commitment to nurturing playwrights and new work, and continues the company's core mission of developing and programming works that are inherently theatrical, textually rich, and visually arresting.
