BWW Review: Fiona Reid Shines in THE AUDIENCE

Fans of The Crown on Netflix will love The Audience. In fact, they share the same writer (Peter Morgan wrote the Netflix series and is the playwright) though the projects are separated by a few years of development. In fact, some of the dialogue from the Netflix show is clearly lifted from the play.

BWW Review: GALAVANT's Renaissance Comedy Troop is Even Better in Season 2

No one is ever going to confuse ABC's medieval song and dance event GALAVANT for top-notch musical comedy, but after a promising, yet uneven, first season, this delightfully silly show has hit its stride in Season 2 capitalizing on what made it a modest, surprise success in 2015. The second season, which premieres tonight at 8:00pm ET, seems to have found a far more consistent sense of humor allowing it to fully realize the RIDICULOUSNESS that each character and actor is capable of bringing to the table. For the next five weeks, ABC will air two 30-minute episodes every Sunday, each featuring original songs by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater. While this is not exactly the typical Sunday night prestige programming, it is a delightful diversion before TV gets back to being serious for February Sweeps.
BWW Review: 'AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE' Gets Lost in Translation

Henrik Ibsen's 1882 play An Enemy of the People is a powerful examination of the difficult and disturbing relationship between truth and power. It examines what happens to a scientist, Dr. Stockmann, and his family when he exposes ugly truths about health concerns related to the economically-vital baths in his town, and the social, political, and familial ramifications involved in his decision to stand by his work.

Review: 'Cloud 9'

Caryl Churchill's once daring play has lost some of its edge over the past three decades, but thanks to a terrific cast and solid direction, it still entertains. * * * 1/2 (OUT OF 5)
Photo Flash: Production Photos of Mirvish Productions' CLOUD 9; Runs 1/19-2/21

CLOUD 9 by Caryl Churchill (Top Girls) is an audacious, award-winning play that wraps gender-bending characters and outrageous portrayals of sexuality in thought-provoking satire. Political and sexual oppression are explored in a time-twisted structure: 100 years pass between acts set in British colonial Africa and modern London, with recurring characters aging a mere 25 years. The exhilarating world of CLOUD 9, where age, gender, race and sexuality are defined and re-defined features Ann-Marie MacDonald, Ben Carlson, Megan Follows, Yanna MacIntosh, Evan Buliung, David Jansen and Blair Williams and is directed by Alisa Palmer (Dora Mavor Moore Award for Top Girls).

For its 2009 season, The Shaw takes on a monumental and historic project with full productions of each play in Noel Coward?s famous Tonight at 8:30 collection. The Shaw?s 2009 productions represent the first time all ten short plays have been performed in repertory by a professional company since they were first produced by London?s Phoenix Theatre in 1935-36. The plays will be performed in sets of three, one on each of the Festival?s Niagara-on-the-Lake stages, with the tenth, the rarely produced Star Chamber, being the lunchtime production in the Royal George. And to celebrate this idea for the event that it is, on two separate occasions, we will present all ten in one day ? an event we are appropriately naming ?Mad Dogs and Englishmen?.
