En Garde Arts Launches Joan D. Firestone Fund for Mid-Career Theatre Artists

Longtime En Garde Arts Chairperson and board member Joan D. Firestone is being honored with the creation of a fund in her name. En Garde Arts has raised $100,000 through a group of generous donors. This is a five year endeavor and every year one theatre artist will receive an $18,000 award and will have full freedom with how to use the funds.
Broadway Producer Dips Into Family Charity Money; Steals $500K

Broadway Producer David Richenthal admitted in a settlement with the office of the New York State Attorney General to using the family's charity assets to pay for personal expenses, including travel. In total, he confessed to stealing up to $500,000. Additionally, he made a large grant using his family's foundation funds as a settlement with a former romantic partner.

Primary Stages hosted its 2016 Gala celebrating the Horton Foote Centennial last night, October 17, 2016 at 6:30 pm at 583 Park Avenue. The even twas chaired by CharLes Davis, HAllie Foote, David Richenthal and Michael Wilson, and featured performances and tributes by Elizabeth Ashley, Harriet Harris, Jayne Houdyshell, Estelle Parsons (pictured, left) and Molly Ringwald. Atlantic Theater Company just presented their Annual Gala last night, March 7, at The Pierre (2 East 61 Street). Actors' Choice celebrated Atlantic's actors with a fabulous evening of unexpected songs, honoring David Richenthal and the Richenthal Foundation for their long-term support of Atlantic's mission. This year, Atlantic asked a slate of favorite Atlantic actors to choose a song they love and a favorite musician to perform it. Directed by Neil Pepe with musical direction by Matt Gallagher, Actors' Choice was an evening of unexpected songs and celebration. The Dramatists Guild of America has announced that they will present for the first time the new Horton Foote Playwriting Award, which will be awarded to playwright Stephen Karam at the Dramatists Guild's annual awards presentations tonight, Monday, February 22, 2016, at the American Airlines Theatre Penthouse Lobby. The Richenthal Foundation is sponsoring the award.

Due to a scheduling conflict, the Kindling Theater Company will now present its inaugural production, the world premiere of The Future Is Not What It Was, written by Michael Rabe and directed by Jay Stull, beginning Saturday, January 12 at 8pm. The production, formerly scheduled for The Wild Project, will instead be presented at Soho Rep's Walkerspace, 46 Walker Street. The new opening night is set for Monday, January 21 at 8pm.
