BIO

David Pearse is an Irish actor with an impressive career on both stage and screen. Born in Dublin in 1965, Pearse initially trained as an electrician before deciding to pursue his passion for acting. He attended the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin and went on to become one of the most recognizable faces in Irish theater.
Pearse has appeared in numerous productions at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin, one of Ireland's most prestigious theaters. Some of his notable stage credits include "The Plough and the Stars," "The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui," and "The Beauty Queen of Leenane." He has also performed with other prominent Irish theater companies, such as the Gate Theatre and the Druid Theatre Company.
In addition to his work in theater, Pearse has also made a name for himself on television. He has appeared in several popular Irish TV shows, including "Love/Hate," "The Fall," and "Vikings." He has also had recurring roles on the British series "Ripper Street" and "The Innocents."
Pearse's film credits include a mix of Irish and international productions. He has worked with some of Ireland's most respected directors, including Jim Sheridan ("In America") and Lenny Abrahamson ("Garage"). He has also appeared in Hollywood films such as "The Guard" and "Daredevil."
One of Pearse's most memorable performances on screen was in the Irish film "Sing Street." Directed by John Carney, the film tells the story of a teenage boy in 1980s Dublin who forms a band to impress a girl. Pearse played the role of the boy's father, who is struggling to provide for his family. The film received widespread critical acclaim and was a box office success.
Pearse's most recent work includes a role in the Irish crime drama "Taken Down," which premiered in 2018. The series, created by "Love/Hate" writer Stuart Carolan, follows a team of detectives investigating the murder of a young Nigerian girl in Dublin. Pearse plays the role of Detective Inspector Jen Rooney, who is leading the investigation.
