BWW Reviews: Wonderful WICKED Wows 'em Again at State Theatre
How good is the production of WICKED which is now appearing at the State Theatre? In 2009 when I took my then 14-year old grandson, known as the Kid Reviewer because I take him along to give the teen/tween view of shows, he gave it a 9.5 out of 10 on his 'rate the play scale.' Why only a 9.5? He said he's reserving the 10 for the most unbelievable show he's ever seen. But, he indicated 'WICKED' was GREAT!' Why? 'It had everything. Great story, outstanding production qualities...sets, costumes, lights, special effects. The music and the performances were awesome.' His advice: 'Go see this show! It's appropriate for kids and their parents.'
BWW Reviews: WICKED is Magically Bewitching!
I was a freshman at Sam Houston State University when I first read Gregory Maguire's riveting and racy novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. That same year, on October 30, 2003 WICKED opened on Broadway at the Gershwin Theatre. I was first bewitched by WICKED when the Original Broadway Cast Album was released on December 16, 2003. In October 2005, I saw the miraculous show for the first time when the First National Tour landed in Houston. Now, WICKED is retuning to Houston for the fourth time and the musical's Broadway production will turn 10 years old this year. It is currently the 12th Longest Running Show in Broadway history. WICKED, with its multiple productions all over the world, is a musical phenomenon that enchants audiences everywhere it goes.

BWW Reviews: WICKED Takes Off For Another Spectacular Run at TPAC
Telling a universal tale of friendship and the power of love to overcome hardship, prejudice and the callous disregard of an ill-informed public, Wicked represents musical theater at its very best: The story intrigues you, the characters engage you, the music touches your heart in ways that might surprise you and the production's stunning design aesthetic provides you with an unparalleled visual feast. No wonder the national touring company has found its way back to Nashville a mere two years after it set records at TPAC, pumping millions of dollars into the Music City economy, only to do so once again, no doubt setting new records while entertaining an appreciative audience.
BWW Reviews: WICKED Books Return Flight To Costa Mesa
Arguably the biggest blockbuster stage musical of this fresh century, WICKED has returned to Orange County for an almost month-long engagement at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts through April 3. The stage musical -- a consistent box-office hit since its Broadway debut seven years ago -- has ballooned into a worldwide phenomenon. A visual and aural splendor from start to finish, WICKED is a near-perfect combination of imaginative story, complex characters, memorable music, fantastic sets and costumes, and even universally-applaudable messages of tolerance and individual self-expression.
WICKED Flies Into The Majestic
Chances are, when you hear the name Dorothy, you think of one thing and one thing only: The Wizard of Oz. This is the tagline to one of the most successful Broadway musicals of all time: Wicked. Currently playing a three-week stint at the Majestic Theatre, Wicked is the the untold story of the Witches of Oz.
RIALTO CHATTER: Mike Myers to Join Harvey Fierstein in LA CAGE?
Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post this morning that none other than Mike Myers (yes, Austin Powers) may step into Kelsey Grammer's role of Georges alongside Harvey Fierstein in LA CAGE AUX FOLLES after Grammer and Douglas Hodge depart the show in February. Writes Riedel: Hodge's co-star, the excellent Kelsey Grammer, is likely to leave the show in February as well, so the hunt is on for a new Georges...Mike Myers is said to be in the mix.'
