BIO

David Margulies was an accomplished actor with a career spanning over five decades. Born in Brooklyn in 1937, Margulies began his acting career in the 1960s, performing in off-Broadway productions before making his Broadway debut in the 1973 production of "The Iceman Cometh." He went on to appear in numerous Broadway productions throughout his career, including "Conversations with My Father," "Wonderful Town," and "Brighton Beach Memoirs."

Margulies was also a prolific film and television actor, appearing in a wide range of roles over the years. He had a recurring role on the hit television show "The Sopranos," playing Tony Soprano's lawyer, Neil Mink. He also appeared in films such as "Ghostbusters," "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective," and "The Thomas Crown Affair."
Despite his success in film and television, Margulies remained committed to the stage throughout his career. He continued to perform in off-Broadway productions and regional theater, and in 2009 he appeared in the Broadway production of "God of Carnage," which went on to win the Tony Award for Best Play.
Margulies was known for his versatility as an actor, able to play both comedic and dramatic roles with ease. He was also highly respected by his peers, with many actors and directors citing him as a mentor and inspiration.
In addition to his work as an actor, Margulies was also an accomplished playwright. His play "Time Stands Still" premiered off-Broadway in 2009 and was later produced on Broadway in 2010. The play was nominated for two Tony Awards, including Best Play.
Margulies continued to work in film, television, and theater throughout his career, and his last film credit was in the 2015 movie "The Cobbler." He passed away in January 2016 at the age of 78, leaving behind a legacy as a talented and respected actor and playwright.

BWW Review: Rollins Players' TIME STANDS STILL Delivers Emotional Journey

More often than not in the coverage of war, while we are presented with ghastly images, the focus is on the larger strategies and total body-counts of battle. We rarely hear the harrowing stories of the innocent lives destroyed by conflict; even less frequently do we see how war impacts those who bring us those ghastly images and harrowing stories. In David Margulies' TIME STANDS STILL, two individuals are forced to deal with the physical and emotional scars left from years of covering war-torn countries. Last weekend the Rollins Players, a student-run organization, tackled this challenging work in the campus' intimate Fred Stone Theatre, with inspiring results.
