News spread quickly among Nashville-area theaterati in January 2016: Denice Hicks would be taking the stage of Belmont University’s Troutt Theater to take on what could conceivably be her greatest theater challenge: Playing King Lear in the Nashville Shakespeare Festival’s production of the Shakespeare tragedy which had opened a week earlier.

Karissa Wheeler's senior year at The University of the South/Sewanee has only just started, but already she's caught up in the whirlwind of a typical – for her, especially – packed and rather crazy schedule, immersed in classes while moving into rehearsals for what may be the most demanding role in which she's ever been cast: Sally Bowles in the iconic Kander and Ebb musical, Cabaret, which is based on John Van Druten's play I Am A Camera, which in turn is inspired Christopher Isherwood's memoir (Goodbye to Berlin) of his years as a struggling young writer in the heady days of Weimar Germany.

Once again, it's that time of year: a period of reflection and introspection that gives us all the perfect opportunity to express our gratitude for the things in our lives that have meant the most to us in 2015. The Stella Adler Studio of Acting and Irondale Center co-present the World Premiere of IS IT ALREADY DUSK?, a new movement theater piece by Joan Evans and Harry Rubeck based on a true story. Performances begin previews February 21 at Irondale Center with opening set for Tuesday, February 26.

A staged reading of Dutchess featuring Mary Bacon, John Daggett, Francesca Faridany, Delphi Harrington, David Landon, Alex Morf, Alexander Sovronsky, Elliot Villar, and Nick Westrate will take place at the Theater at St. Clement's on Monday, March 22 at 7:30pm.
