INTAR Extends World Premiere of THE MAIDS
INTAR (Lou Moreno, Artistic Director/John McCormack, Executive Director) is proud to announce that the acclaimed world premiere of THE MAIDS by Jose Rivera, adapted from the play by Jean Genet, will extend until October 30th. Daniel Irizarry directs a cast that features Laura Butler Rivera, Daniel Irizarry, Charlie Munn, Casey Robinson, and Folami Williams. THE MAIDS by Jose Rivera is presented in association with One-Eighth Theater (founded by its Artistic Directors Daniel Irizarry and Laura Butler Rivera), which is continuing its residency at INTAR Theatre. THE MAIDS was developed, in part, with assistance from the Orchard Project, a program of The Exchange (Ari Edelson, Artistic Director Dean Strober, Executive Director, www.exchangenyc.org).

Racial Drama CHOKEHOLD Heads to the 14th Street Y
Core Creative Productions will premiere an updated version of CHOKEHOLD by Anthony P. Pennino, directed by Tim Cusack. An earlier version of this intense drama about police brutality won Outstanding Overall Production of a New Play at the 2015 Planet Connections Festivity. Previews begin September 16 at The Theatre at the 14th Street Y with opening slated for September 22.

The Can Opener: A Brief Horror Musical will return to the New York Stage on select dates starting February 19th at the Kraine Theater as part of the 2015 Frigid NY Theater Festival. This latest remount comes after an acclaimed, sold-out run at the Players Theater Boo Festival in 2014. After the 2014 sold-out premiere, James Huntington, of the The Village Light Opera Group, wrote 'The story is clever, the music has real melodies… [it's] a wonderful piece of entertainment.'

Metropolitan Playhouse's Gilded Stage Festival to Run 1/13-26
Metropolitan Playhouse, Obie Award winner for exploring American culture through theater, hosts The Gilded Stage Festival, the theater's ninth annual Living Literature Festival of performances inspired by the lives and works of American writers and creators. The Festival is a collection of nine new works by artists and companies from near and far, taking their inspiration from the writings, causes, and lives that defined The Gilded Age.
