While most Southern California theatergoers are likely more aware of the 'big deal,' direct-from-Broadway production of Charles Dickens' classic A CHRISTMAS CAROL now playing in Los Angeles featuring big star names in its roster, many should not necessarily bypass the other, less star-studded mounting now entertaining audiences in Costa Mesa through December 26, 2021---that's more subtle in its grandeur, but still just as enchanting and timeless at its core. SCR's 41st annual production now features Richard Doyle in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge.
South Coast Repertory Announces Expanded Talkback Schedule For 2019-20 Season
Today, South Coast Repertory Artistic Director David Ivers and Managing Director Paula Tomei announced an expanded schedule of thoughtful, lively conversations and talkbacks for the 2019-20 season, the first programmed by Ivers. The main productions on the Segerstrom and Julianne Argyros stages will have at least 4 post-show discussions, a series of artistic director talkbacks and Saturday morning seminars called Inside the Season. There will be a special talkback for A Christmas Carol, which marks its 40th anniversary this year.

Artistic Director David Ivers and Managing Director Paula Tomei today announced South Coast Repertory's 13-play, 2019-20 season, which builds on the theatre's 56-year foundation of stellar artistry. The offerings range from a two-person show to a large-cast musical and represent a kaleidoscope of classics and popular hits, along with four world premieres and three shows for young audiences and families. The season includes the world premiere of The Scarlet Letter by Kate Hamill, the musical She Loves Me (directed by Ivers), American Mariachi by Jose Cruz Gonzalez, Arcadia by Tom Stoppard and the beloved children's story, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Casting has been confirmed for Proof at the Hope Mill Theatre, by the Pulitzer Drama Prize winning playwright David Auburn. Having produced ten musicals with Aria Entertainment during the venue's opening three years, Proof will be Hope Mill Theatre's first self-produced play. Proof is Auburn's passionate, intelligent story about fathers and daughters, the nature of genius, and the power of love. Staged Readings Goodman Theater 14th ANNUAL NEW STAGES FESTIVAL
