David Hughey is among the most varied performing artists of his generation! A classically trained vocalist and accomplished stage and screen actor, David is quickly gaining recognition as one of the industry’s most versatile rising stars!
Critics have acclaimed him as “Dynamic” (The New York Times), “Golden-toned” (San Francisco Chronicle), “Vocally stunning” (Broadway World), and “Honey-voiced” (DC Theater Scene). Since making his Broadway debut in the Tony Award winning musical The Gershwins’ Porgy And Bess, he has been featured on and off Broadway, most recently in the hit musical Waitress! Notably, Mr. Hughey recently originated the role of Paul in the World Premiere of the musical Grace at the historic Ford’s Theatre in Washington, DC.
Hughey has also performed with some of the world’s most notable opera companies, including San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and New York City Opera, as well as with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, along with being featured both on and off screen in several notable projects including: FBI Most Wanted (CBS), Lincoln Rhyme Hunt for the Bone Collector (NBC), The Underground Railroad (Amazon), Live From Lincoln Center (PBS), and the Academy Award winning film 12 Years A Slave. Mr. Hughey is a graduate of both Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Manhattan school of Music, respectively. At the latter, he was the recipient of the Rodgers and Hammerstein Scholarship.
