Jamaican born David Heron is an award winning Playwright, Producer and Actor.
His six produced plays- Ecstasy, Intermission, Against His Will, Love and Marriage and New York City, Redemption and 4PLAY, have been performed on three continents, earning him five International Theatre Institute Actor Boy Awards.
His biggest success to date has been his comedy drama Love and Marriage and New York City which has been performed throughout the Caribbean, Canada and Off Broadway at the Billie Holiday Theatre in New York as well as at The National Black Theatre Festival in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
He is currently working with actor and producer Malik Yoba to bring a revised version of his controversial courtroom drama Against His Will to the New York stage.
As an actor, he has appeared Off Broadway, regionally and internationally
in such acclaimed productions as Marley- The Musical (Baltimore Centerstage), The Emperor Jones (Irish Repertory Theatre), Moon on a Rainbow Shawl, (New Federal Theatre), Robinson Crusoe (Orlando Shakespeare Festival), and his own play Love and Marriage and New York City (Billie Holiday Theatre , Canada and The UK).
He earned an Audelco Award nomination as Best Supporting Actor in Steve Carter’s Pecong at The National Black Theatre and also received critical acclaim for the NBT production of Medea, opposite Tony Award winner Trezana Beverly.
As one of a select few Caribbean born actors regularly performing Shakespeare professionally in the USA, his resume also includes some of the Bard’s most famous works including Hamlet, Antony and Cleopatra, Othello, The Winter’s Tale, The Tempest, Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, performed at such renowned theatres as The St Louis Shakespeare Festival, The Virginia Shakespeare Festival, The North Carolina Shakespeare Festival and New York Classical Theatre.
Among many other awards and accolades, he has been honored with the Caribbean Life Impact Award and at City Hall with the City Council of New York’s Proclamation for Excellence and Career Achievement.
