The Long Beach Ballet's THE NUTCRACKER has been seen by millions of people worldwide, including live audiences totaling more than 400,000 in Long Beach, 70,000 in Pasadena, hundreds of thousands throughout Asia (as performed by the Chinese Guangzhou Ballet), and millions more on television. And now that I can count myself among those entertained by the talented troupe of dancers, I can assure you LAB's overall production is so magnificent on all levels that even those who think they do not like ballet will certainly enjoy it, along with Tchaikovsky's beautiful score conducted by Dr. Roger Hickman.

PhillyCAM announces the first annual CAMMY Community Recognition Awards on Friday, October 20 at 7:00 PM at Taller Puertorriqueno (2600 North 5th Street). Recognizing the creativity and commitment of its producers, the CAMMY Awards celebrate members whose television or radio content resonates with the PhillyCAM mission to be a community media center that brings together the people of Philadelphia to make and share media that promotes creative expression, democratic values and civic participation. The awards are also given to members whose media content exemplifies values of inclusion, collaboration, discovery, learning local focus and quality.

The Human Experience) is hitting the road this winter with with a new collaborative live band and self-titled album, Gone Gone Beyond. The 6-track EP will feature all original compositions featuring Paul Weinfield on guitar and Danny Musengo on vocals, along side the blissful sonic sounds that have pushed Block into the electronic music limelight. Stacked with live horns, upright bass, keys and pulsating rhythms -- the latest release is unlike anything you have heard from Block before.

BWW Reviews: Celebrate the Season with Los Angeles Ballet's THE NUTCRACKER
The essential holiday tradition of The Nutcracker ballet continues for one more weekend, presented by the Los Angeles Ballet at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center on Saturday, December 27 at 1:00pm and 5:00pm and on Sunday, December 28 at 2:00pm. This production is the perfect introduction to classic ballet for the whole family as there are many children of all ages in the cast. And given the number of touring companies bringing productions to Los Angeles, it's nice to be able to support a hometown ballet company where many of the featured dancers were born and/or live in our area.

The show features an original score by Stephen Flahertyand Lynn Ahrens and a book by Thomas Meehan and Sylvester Stallone, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for the 1976 Oscar-winning Best Picture, Rocky.The production is directed by Alex Timbers, with choreography by Steven Hoggett, and Kelly Devine.
