BIO

David Auxier is a performer who runs the gamut of show business. He has been seen on stages all around the country and abroad, whether playing the “hysterically funny” Sergeant of Police in The Pirates of Penzance, the “droll & spirited” Captain Corcoran in HMS Pinafore, or as the Master of Ceremonies, creator/writer/director of his 2009 Bistro Award winning Gilbert & Sullivan cabaret I’ve Got a Little Twist, which continues to tour the country (and recently, England!).

David’s musical theatre and dance education started in Omaha, Nebraska, at Benson High School, the very same school from which the unmatched queen of cabaret Julie Wilson graduated 45 years earlier. After a short layover getting his degree in Musical Theatre at Oklahoma City University, where he studied with voice teacher extraordinaire Florence Birdwell, he moved to New York where he now lives and works.

David has been a principle performer with the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players since 1992, as well as co-director and company choreographer since 2010, starting with NYGASP’s new production of Ruddigore at NY City Center, followed by Iolanthe, Patience, Utopia, Limited, The Grand Duke, The Sorcerer and The Gondoliers. David is the recipient of the 2015 Isaac Asimov Award for Artistic Excellence.
Besides the writing of I’ve Got a Little Twist, David also wrote the script for and directed NYGASP’s successful revue G&S a la Carte.
David is a 2007 Mac Award Nominee as composer/lyricist for special Musical Material (a fancy name for “comedy song”), and is currently working on his original musical The EnGAYgement, playing at The Metropolitan Room in 2015-2016.

David also choreographs and performs with The Ziegfeld Society.
