Full Casting Announced For Northern Broadsides National Tour of HARD TIMES By Charles Dickens
Northern Broadsides announce full casting for Deborah McAndrew's new adaptation of Charles Dickens Hard Times. Hard Times cast will feature Suzanne Ahmet (Saint George and the Dragon, National Theatre) as Sissy Jupe; Darren Kuppan (Guards at the Taj, Bush Theatre and The Tempest, Globe Theatre) as Mr Harthouse / Bitzer; Vanessa Schofield (Plastic Figures, Box of Tricks) Louisa Gradgrind; Tony Hunt (The Commitments, West End) as Steven Blackpool; Perry Moore (Cyrano, Northern Broadsides and Peter Pan in Scarlet, New Vic Theatre) as Tom Gradgrind; Howard Chadwick (Brassed Off, Oldham Coliseum) as Josiah Bounderby/Strong Man.

Rajiv Joseph's plays include Gruesome Playground Injuries, All This Intimacy and the Pulitzer Prize-nominated Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo. On screen, he's written for TV series Nurse Jackie and feature film Draft Day, starring Kevin Costner and Jennifer Garner. His 2015 play Guards at the Taj, about two imperial guards in 17th-century India handed a gruesome decree, has its European premiere at the Bush Theatre, directed by Jamie Lloyd, beginning previews on 7 April.

Pauline McLynn (Father Ted, Shameless, EastEnders) will play Ella Khan in Ayub Khan Din's critically-acclaimed play East is East, which was part of Jamie Lloyd's second Trafalgar Transformed season, directed by Sam Yates, on a 16 week National Tour from tonight 11 June 2015, commencing at Theatre Royal, Brighton. East is East is designed by Tom Scutt, with lighting by Richard Howell and sound and music by Alex Baranowski.

The Khans are joined by Kammy Darweish (Mr Shah), Sakuntala Ramanee (Mrs Shah) and Sally Bankes (Auntie Annie).
