Dance West Culminates With TOPOGRAPHY, A Concert Spotlighting Guest Artists
The inaugural Dance West Fest, a new summer workshop that combines the forces of Repertory Dance Theatre, Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, and Salt Dance Fest at the University of Utah, is well underway at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center after a successful first week at the University of Utah. As part of the festival, the joined companies are excited to announce the performance of TOPOGRAPHY on June 27, 2019 at 7:30 pm in the Black Box Theatre.

Co-curators: choreographer Stefanie Nelson of Stefanie Nelson Dancegroup and bestselling author David Shenk (The Forgetting) present the launch of a new festival devoted to memory and forgetting. The inaugural event will feature Stefanie Nelson's A, MY NAME IS…, a dance piece inspired by a family experience with dementia, using several short films from David Shenk's Living With Alzheimer's Film Project. It will take place on January 23, 2019, at Aaron Davis Hall at The City College of New York (129 Convent Avenue at West 135th Street), with performances at 11:00 am and 6:30 pm. Both shows will be followed by a discussion with invited panelists including Meredith Wong from CaringKind's Connect2Culture program, and a reception (evening show only). DANCE NOW is pleased to announce the lineup for the 2017 DANCE NOW Festival. Acclaimed for its adventurous short-takes format, the annual DANCE NOW Festival presents an eclectic array of works by some of today's most exciting dance makers. The 22nd season of this exuberant showcase will feature 40 emerging and established choreographers side by side, including DANCE NOW veterans and festival newcomers. The 2017 festival will take place Wednesday to Saturday, September 6-9, at 7pm, at Joe's Pub at The Public. A special encore performance will be presented on Thursday, September 28, at 7pm.

BWW Interview: Dante Brown and the DB/WD WORKSHOP
Dante Brown/Warehouse Dance (DB/WD) will be hosting its first annual workshop May 19-21, 2017 at the Gowanus Loft in Brooklyn, NY. Over the course of three days, professional artists (ages 18 and over) will be able to interact with a range of choreographers who are leaders in the dance community, making provocative work. The artists will lead a workshop based on their choreographic interests as well as share excerpts of their work in an evening performance. Partial proceeds from the program will be donated to the Black Lives Matter movement.

The People Movers announce the seventh chapter of CRAWL: a multi-disciplinary, nomadic arts presenting series, now in its third year of programming. On March 17th and 18th, 2017, Chapter 7 will take place at Industry City Distillery at 8:00 PM. The evening will feature dance performances from Brendan Drake Choreography and Dante Brown|Warehouse Dance, and photography from Nir Arieli.

The stars were shining in Hollywood for the 2016 Looking Ahead Awards on Tuesday night at the beautiful Taglyan Complex, where over 300 guests enjoyed exciting "blue carpet" arrivals, fabulous cocktail hour, fun photo booth, delicious gourmet dinner and a meaningful celebrity-studded awards ceremony. The event raised over $50,000 in support of The Actors Fund's Looking Ahead program.
